Kona's Island Style Healing and Wellness
Carson City, NV
I studied Massage Therapy at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Boulder, CO. There I received my Certification as well as my Associates of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree. Before I became a Massage Therapist I studied art and philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno where I received my Bachelors of Art (BA) Degree. During this time I was introduced to energy work which inspired me to become a Massage Therapist. I still enjoy the creative process and I like to bring that into my practice by using my hands instead of paint and a brush. I base my philosophy to massage on the premise that we are all a unified mind, body, and soul. Health comes when all of these aspects are in balance. As a therapist, I can and will facilitate this process for the client through an integrative approach, which incorporates energy work and Chakra balancing to therapeutic bodywork. By releasing stagnation and blockages I allow the natural flow of energy in the body which eases pain and tension.
Health is the greatest gift!
I am dedicated and honored to provide the best quality of healing for each individual clients mind, body and spirit. Every client deserves outstanding empathy and compassion. Whether it be total relaxation, stress, pain relief, maintenance, or to regain functional movement. Every massage should be assessed and personalized to provide a positive and satisfying outcome. I have enjoyed working in various areas of the medical field for 30 plus years. I am also certified as a Pilates and fitness instructor.

She recently returned to the northern Nevada after spending the last 15 years studying and practicing in Honolulu, Hawaii. She received her massage training at Reno's Ralston School of Massage in 2001 and was immediately hired as the massage therapist for the University of Hawaii Swimming & Diving teams in exchange for a full scholarship. After finishing at UH with her B.A. in Psychology she moved on to work at building her personal business, Knotwrking Massage, emphasizing in sports massage, repetitive injury and recovery therapy, working with athletes of all levels while continuing her relationship with the UH Swim & Dive teams. Although she and her husband chose to leave the islands, to pursue more opportunity, she kept her Aloha spirit and was immediately drawn to Kona Chiropractic and their Island Style Healing and Wellness. Sonya so happy to become part of the NV Ohana.

I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2015. In 2007 I started a journey focused on building knowledge and skills in the wellness and rehabilitative field. As a therapeutic massage therapist my focus is to give a strong but relaxing massage that aids in allowing the body to be at it's most optimal point.
